Caring communities: subjective dimensions Pt. 1

Christine Milligan is Professor of Health and Social Geography and Director of Lancaster University Centre for Ageing Research. Her research focuses around spatial perspectives of informal sector health and welfare. In particular, her work addresses the intersection between informal (family) care-giving, third sector provision, health and social welfare, in relation to older people, active ageing, and the changing nature of home. She is currently working with two of the NHS Vanguard sites in the UK to assess the effectiveness of new models of care incorporating digital health technology to support frail older people to remain in their own homes for longer. Her research spans work undertaken in the UK, across Europe, and New Zealand. Professor Milligan has published over 100 books, peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and reports. She is also associate editor for Health & Place.
