Building the Future of Health

June 3 10:00-11:00

TNO Session: Smart Housing

In the last 20 years ICT & domotica in housing for the elderly population have been tried and tested…. and failed to scale up or roll out on any substantial scale. Technology push instead of centering on user needs, a lacking societal business case and support from care organisations have obstructed the home to become a place for aging well. Developed by private entrepreneurs and tested in France, new (scaled up) concepts are now breaking through the barrier of silo-based, technology push solutions. Truly integrated platforms where combinations of technical performance and behaviour of a house, a person’s health and social data set are accessible for those needing to access in combination with a supportive built environment are being deployed, most recently in The Netherlands.
