Bicycling Through The City

The Brain, the Body, the Bicycle and the Environment

Using a bicycle as a means of transportation in a complex environment, like a city, poses great demands on brain and body, especially for ageing citizens. Understanding bicycling can be helpful in organising that environment to make bicycling safer and more effective. For this we need to analyse how movements are made in an automatic way, how visual information is used and how unexpected events are handled. Knowledge from several fields of human movement sciences will be put forward to clarify the subject.
